Understanding the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)

Navigating government child care subsidies can feel complex, but our team is here to simplify it for Casino families. While we don’t process the claims, we’re your friendly guide to understanding CCS, ensuring you access the financial assistance you are eligible for.

Let’s start with the basics. Children under 13, who are permanent residents and immunisation compliant, generally qualify for the subsidy. Subsidised hours range from 0-100 per fortnight, and are typically based on family activity levels. For example, families who engage in 8-16 hours of activity will often receive a 36-hour subsidy. Recognised activities include paid work, volunteering, studying, job hunting, business and travel.

Extra support is available for many families, especially those on low incomes or going through tough times. To get started, you’ll need to log into your myGov account and complete the CCS assessment. If that sounds a bit daunting, don’t worry, our team is always here to walk you through it step by step.

Your Enrolment Questions, Answered

From fees and forms to what your little one’s day will actually look like, we know starting childcare can come with a swirl of questions. These queries come up often, so we’ve popped the answers here to give you a clearer picture of how things roll at Kookaburra.
1. Do I need to pay full fees while waiting for CCS approval?

Yes, families typically pay full fees until the subsidy is confirmed. Once your CCS approval comes through, we’ll ensure your fees are promptly adjusted, often with retroactive application to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

The waitlist duration varies depending on the age group and current room availability. We always recommend applying early to secure your child’s place, enabling them to start their learning journey with their peers.
